ForbesForbes Support 1「Forbes (フォーブス) 日本版 2009年 09月号」Forbes Support 2を購入。特集「有名人パワーランキング 世界のセレブ 100」という特集に興味があった。ちょっとした遊び心！？といった感じである。

「フォーブス」によれば、パワーランキングとは以下の通りである。

フォーブス誌の「有名人パワーランキング・セレブりティ100」は、俳優、ミュージシャン、スポーツ選手、モデル、作家、シェフなど各界で活躍する有名人の「真のパワー」を示すもの。

どうやらここで言っている「真のパワー」は、「年収」の他、各種メディアでの露出度を組み合わせてランク付けしているそうである。

早速、総合ランキングの上位を示しておこう。

  1. アンジェリーナ・ジョリー（女優）
  2. オブラ・ウィンフリー（テレビ番組司会者）
  3. マドンナ（歌手）

なるほど、そうそうたるメンバーがリストされている。ちなみに、スポーツ選手での Best 3 をリストしてみよう。

  1. 総合5位：タイガー・ウッズ（ゴルフ）
  2. 総合10位：コービー・ブライアン（バスケットボール）
  3. 総合18位：マイケル・ジョーダン（バスケットボール）

ということで、現在最も興味あるテニスプレーヤをリストしてみると、100位までに5人がランクインしている。

  1. （総合27位）：ロジャー・フェデラー（年収33億円）
  2. （総合67位）：セリーナ・ウィリアムス（年収17億円）
  3. （総合76位）：マリア・シャラポワ（年収22億円）
  4. （総合77位）：ビーナス・ウィリアムス（年収15億円）
  5. （総合90位）：アナ・イワノビッチ（年収10億円）

上記リストでは、フェデラー以外は全て女性。グランドスラムで活躍が無いシャラポワやイワノビッチがランクインはちょっと意外な感じがする。ただ、本家のForbes.com に上記関する記事が公開されていたので、以下に原文を引用しておこう。

Federer’s record streak of 237 consecutive weeks as the No 1-ranked player in the world ended last year when Rafael Nadal usurped the Swiss maestro. The 2008 Wimbledon final pitting Federer against Nadal lasted nearly five hours and was called by many the greatest tennis match of all time. Passed Pete Sampras to become the all-time leader in career prize money last October; has earned $47 million since turning pro in 1998.

Williams rebounded from injuries to win two Grand Slams, the U.S. Open and Australian Open, over the past year. Her $24 million in career prize money is the highest along all female athletes (big sister Venus is second at $23 million). She launched the Serena Williams Signature Statement, a line of handbags, jewelry and apparel, this year on HSN. Prices range from $17 to $100, and the first 25,000 items sold out after three hours of air time on the shopping channel.

Injuries have recently obliterated prize money and appearance fees for the top earner in female sports, much as they did for her male counterpart Tiger Woods. A shoulder injury sidelined Sharapova for nine months. She maintains a hefty portfolio of sponsors, including Nike, Prince, Canon, Tiffany and Tag Heuer. New to the list: Unilever dandruff shampoo Clear, which signed the six-foot Russian to a deal worth a reported $2.5 million annually.

Williams won her fifth Wimbledon title, third Olympic gold medal and $3.8 million in prize money last year, the highest earnings total in her decorated career. Off the court, things didn’t go as well: Retailer Steve & Barry’s, where Williams sold her own fashion line, EleVen, filed for bankruptcy. Now searching for a new partner to sell the line of athletic apparel.
